How long does it take for trackilive EverFind to go online after activation?

Is there a trick to get EverFind to go online immediately?

Yes, to instantly bring the EverFind GPS tracker online or change its profile without waiting, a “light sensor” alarm can be triggered. The light sensor is located on the back of the tracker. To activate it, remove the small sticker covering the sensor and expose it to light.

However, we recommend blocking the light sensor or attaching the tracker directly to a magnetic surface after activation if the light sensor function is not needed. This way the light sensor is not constantly exposed to light to avoid unnecessary light sensor alarms that can lead to extreme battery drain.

Why is the light sensor blocked by a sticker?

If the light sensor is constantly exposed to light, alarms will be constantly generated, resulting in extreme battery consumption and significantly reducing battery life. To avoid the constant alarms mentioned above, the light sensor is first blocked with a sticker.

For optimal performance, we recommend attaching the tracker to a magnetic surface. This way, the light sensor alarm will only be triggered when the device is removed from the surface. If you don't need this feature, you can put the sticker back on to extend battery life.

If you want to receive light sensor alerts, in addition to removing the sticker, you will need to enable the Light Sensor Alert option in the Trackilive app.

Which tracking profiles are available to me with trackilive EverFind?

4 different tracking profiles are currently supported:

6 years of battery life: In this profile, the tracker sends a position update every 24 hours.

Interval mode: In this profile, the tracker sends a position update every 12 hours.

Smart mode: In this mode, the tracker is always in sleep mode and sends a position update every 24 hours. However, when the tracker is shaken or moved, it wakes up immediately and sends a position update every 15 minutes while moving.
It should be noted that activating this mode when the tracker is moved frequently will completely drain the battery within a few days.

Recovery Mode: This is a mode that places heavy demands on the battery. In this mode, the tracker sends a position update every 10 minutes, regardless of whether it is moving or not. This profile is only recommended if the risk of extreme battery drain is known. If the tracker is set to this mode, a full battery will discharge within a few days.

How long does the battery last in the different tracking profiles?

The guaranteed battery life of 6 years can be achieved when the tracker is used in the preset default tracking profile “6 years battery life” with the “light sensor” disabled. However, in other tracking profiles, battery life varies depending on usage, GPS signal strength, cellular signal, and frequency of “light sensor” alerts.

Here is an estimate of battery usage for different profiles if you have a new EverFind GPS tracker with new batteries:

6-year battery life: This is the standard tracking profile where 6 years of battery life can be achieved when the light sensor is blocked and the GPS and cellular signal strength are good.

Smart Mode: In this mode, the battery can last up to 4 years if the tracker remains stationary and does not move. However, when the tracker moves in this mode, the battery consumption depends on the movement. For example, if the tracker only moves for an hour per day and no light sensor alarm is triggered, the battery can last up to 14 months.
However, if the tracker in Smart mode is frequently in motion, e.g. B. more than two hours per day, the battery consumption is extremely high. In this case, the battery may only last a month or less depending on the frequency of movement.

Interval Mode: When the tracker is set in this mode with an upload interval of 12 hours, the battery can last up to 3 years.

Recovery Mode: When the tracker is set in this mode, the battery may last less than a month.

Note: Please note that the battery life times above are estimates and may vary depending on various factors. For example, higher GPS signal strength and higher cellular signal strength can result in lower battery consumption, while weaker signals can result in higher consumption. In addition, the frequency of the “light sensor” alarms plays an important role; more frequent alarms can significantly impact battery life, while blocking or minimally triggering the “light sensor” can help conserve battery power.

How long does it take until the newly selected tracking profile is activated?

The EverFind GPS tracker always downloads the new settings once it is online. So if you changed the tracking profile in the app, you have to wait for the tracker to report the next position update. Once the tracker is online, the new settings will be downloaded and will work accordingly.

For example, if the tracker reports its position every 24 hours and you change the profile to "Smart Mode", you will have to wait until the next position report (after 24 hours) for the new settings to take effect.

What do I need to know about the battery indicators?

The battery capacity percentage displayed in the application is an estimate and not an exact measurement of battery capacity. The reason for this is that the chemical composition of the battery makes it difficult to give an exact percentage. The estimate may vary depending on the tracking profile used.

Please note that occasional fluctuations in battery percentage are normal. The percentage shown may change with the next position update.

How is the impressive 6 year battery life achieved?

The EverFind GPS tracker has a battery life of up to 6 years when set to the default “6 years battery life” profile and the light sensor is blocked. This profile is preset when you purchase a new EverFind GPS tracker.

However, battery life also depends on other factors:

GPS signal strength: The stronger the GPS signal, the more efficiently the tracker works and the longer the battery lasts.

Cellular signal strength: A strong cellular signal ensures smoother communication between the tracker and server and contributes to longer battery life.

Light sensor alarms: The frequency of light sensor alarms can affect battery life. Fewer alarms result in longer battery life.

It is important to observe the behavior of the light sensor. If the light sensor is constantly exposed to light or triggers frequent alarms (daily or weekly), or if GPS or cellular signal strength is weak, the 6 year battery life may be shortened.

Knowing these factors and optimizing your usage will help you maximize the battery life of your EverFind GPS tracker. Enjoy long-lasting performance while your valuable possessions are safe and secure!

In which areas should the trackilive EverFind be used?
